Ignition Types:
The type of ignition that you choose determines how you light your gas log set. There are several options to choose from in the drop-down menu for each product. Not all of the options below are available on every gas log set:
Latch Tap/Manual Safety Pilot - This is the most basic ignition method that we offer. This type of ignition is not compatible with a remote, and must always be operated by hand. The safety pilot has a pilot light that stays lit all the time, enabling you to light your gas logs instantly without using a match. Just turn the control knob on your burner to adjust the flame. This ignition also has a safety mechanism that shuts off the flow of gas if the pilot light goes out. This ensures that gas will never leak into your home without your knowledge. This is such an important safety feature that we will not sell a gas log set without it.
Manual Thermostat - This ignition has a manual safety pilot, and the gas output is controlled by a thermostat.
Millivolt - A millivolt ignition offers several advantages over a manual ignition. The most important advantage is that a millivolt ignition can be controlled by a remote. These remotes can come in several varieties, including Basic On/Off, Variable Flame Height, and Thermostatic Control. Be sure to read the full name of the ignition method in the dropdown menu to see which type of millivolt ignition comes with your gas log set. The millivolt ignition also has no standing pilot, which means you will not be burning the small amount of gas all the time that is required to keep a pilot light lit. An electronic signal lights the pilot when you want to turn your gas logs on, then once the logs are lit, the pilot turns itself off.
Millivolt (Remote-Ready) - This is our basic millivolt ignition. It is compatible with a remote, but A REMOTE IS NOT INCLUDED WITH THIS IGNITION. Remotes can be added to your order by choosing them from the extra options or by shopping the accessories.
Millivolt (Bedroom) - This millivolt ignition outputs a low amount of heat, usually less than 10,000 BTU, making it ideal for smaller spaces such as bedrooms.
Millivolt (With On/Off Remote) - This millivolt ignition comes with a remote control that turns the set on and off, but does not adjust temperature or flame height.
Variable Flame with Remote - This millivolt ignition comes with a remote control that can adjust the height of the flames.
